Student Life

Glenforest provides small classes, individual attention and a multisensory approach that addresses a variety of student learning styles within the regular classroom. Varied assessment techniques are used to meet the needs of students who do not test well on traditional tests. (These may include oral testing, portfolio assessment, project-based learning, application, etc.) Students may use assistive technology as well as have notes, reviews, etc., provided for them. Students also may receive texts for the blind through the library. Dyslexia programs may provide texts on tape. Accommodations provided by Glenforest do not cause students to feel singled out for “special treatment.” Instead, students are made aware of their learning styles and helped to find what works best for each individual. Our goal is to help students learn to be advocates for their specific learning needs.
